Garbage Recycling containers

Garbage and recycling containers left in streets for prolonged periods can inhibit street sweeping and snow removal efforts. Rice Lake Community Services Department requests that containers be placed in driveways or behind the curb and then be promptly removed when empty.

City of Rice Lake residents are reminded to promptly remove garbage and recycling containers from streets once they have been emptied.

The Community Service Department stated in a notice this week that containers have been left in the streets for weeks at a time, making street sweeping efforts more difficult. Containers left in the streets during winter also inhibit snow plowing.

Containers should not be placed in streets nor should they be set on snow banks. They should be set in a driveway or a shoveled placed behind the curb.

The department requests that containers be set out no sooner than 24 hours before collection time and that they be removed no later than 24 hours after collection time.

Customers are reminded that recyclables should be empty, clean and dry to aid in the recycling process.
