The Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined the Saputo Cheese facility in Almena more than $5,000 after an inspection found one serious violation.
Saputo Cheese USA, Inc, will have to pay $5,314 for the violation, according to the OSHA website.
OSHA’s website describes the violated standard as the need to have machine guarding in place to protect the machine operator and others in the area.
The company has until Nov. 27 to correct the violation, and it is possible the fine will be reduced.
Saputo Cheese USA, Inc did not return calls or email requesting comment by press time.
