Michael Bitney has announced that he is seeking re-election to a second term as judge in Barron County. Bitney was appointed Judge by former Gov. Scott Walker in August of 2013 and was elected to his first, 6-year term of office in 2014. Since then he has presided over criminal, civil and juvenile cases as Circuit Court Judge in Branch 2.
Judge Bitney also presides over the Barron County Drug and Alcohol Court and leads the Court security committee.
Bitney serves on the Board of Directors for the Barron County Boys and Girls Club. He and his wife, Nancy, are active members of Holy Trinity parish in Haugen, and they live nearby with their beloved, black lab Bella.
Bitney said it has been an honor and privilege to serve as Judge for the past 6 ½ years. “I am blessed to work with so many dedicated, public servants trying to make a positive difference in the lives of people in Barron County. Your continued support is greatly appreciated,” he said.
