An Active Shooter training is Saturday, Feb. 24, starting at 9 a.m. at the Barron Foursquare Church, corner of Ninth and Division streets in Barron.

The public is invited, and there is no charge to attend.

According to Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald, “This is a 1 hour Powerpoint and about 1/2 hour active drill covering what we learned.  It is mainly for adults but if a parent wanted to bring a middle school or older child that would be ok.”

He added, “While we can’t stop these from happening, we can train you on what to do if one occurs.  We want people to be prepared and ALICE is the training we offer to do just that.”

ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate.
