A 21-year-old Cameron High School graduate was killed in a motorcycle crash in Odessa, Texas on July 4 at about 9:50 p.m.
Jacob Ross Hengtgen, CHS Class of 2016, was traveling eastbound on his Harley Davidson motorcycle in the 1900 block of East 8th Street and struck a black Ford Mustang, being operated by Vanessa Cortez, 17, of Odessa, according to a Odessa Police press release. The Mustang was exiting from a private drive and attempting to turn westbound.
Hengtgen was transported to Medical Center Hospital and was later pronounced deceased by medical personnel, according to the release. Next of kin were notified and there were no reports of any other injuries.
Police say speed was a factor in the crash, and that the investigation is ongoing.
Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to the crash.
