Swimmers compete in Minnesota Regional Meet

On March 23-24, Preethi Muruganandan and Emma Tingo, members of the Phillips Wave swim team, competed in the Minnesota Regional Swim Meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, along with approximately 850 swimmers from nine states.

Preethi completed the 25-yard breaststroke in 23.35 seconds and finished 13th out of 16. She also swam the breaststroke in the 100 Medley relay with other members of the Northern Lakes Aquatic Club in which they finished second out of 16 teams.

Emma completed the following events: the 25 yard freestyle in 16.96 seconds and finished 20th of 39, the 25 breast in 23.92 and finished 14th of 16, the 50 freestyle in 39.93 and finished 41st of 78 and the 25 backstroke in 21.95 and finished 30th of 41. She also swam in the 100 freestyle relay with other members of the Northern Lakes Aquatic Club in which they finished second out of 16 teams.

Both swimmers rose to the competition and marked season best times during their first appearance in this annual meet. Leading up to the meet, they were coached in practices by Hailey Lundborg, who is their regular season coach, and at the meet in Minnesota, Alex Watral coached them. Other members of the Phillips Wave who also qualified for the meet but were unable to attend were: Elise Ertl, Annikka Johnson, Claire Langfoss, Emma Schmidt, Kyle Lochner and Michael Prochnow.
