Brunner's team wins Midwest All Star Classic

Max Brunner, holding the championship trophy his team won at the Midwest All Star Classic.

Max Brunner, son of Jason and Nicole Brunner, and a sixth grader at Chequamegon, recently travelled to Wisconsin Dells to compete in the Midwest All Star Classic.

The tournament features top players from Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois. The tournament was held August 16-17.

Although Brunner is only 11 years old, he competed in the 13U division, and showed talent far beyond his young age.

Competing on the "all turf" facility, Brunner's team, the "Steers,” won the championship with a 3-1 record. The Steers won their first game 7-3, lost the second game 6-5, won their third game 11-9, then won the championship game 14-4.

Brunner went five for eight at the plate, scoring four runs and four RBI. Brunner played shortstop and left field.

Brunner's stats are even more impressive considering he was playing against many kids that were two years older.
