On Thursday, June 20, the Phillips Community Pool will serve as an official host location for the global World’s Largest Swim Lesson event, which brings attention to the importance of learning to swim. The event celebrates its 10th anniversary with events taking place over the course of 24 hours at an estimated 600 locations in more than 20 countries, according to organizers. Registration for the Phillips event begins at 4 p.m. with a 30-minute lesson begining at 5 p.m. Organized activities and demonstrations will follow the lesson. Topics will include open-water safety for families, canoe and kayak safety, basic water rescues, and a special “lifeguard challenge.” More information is available at wlsl.org.
