The Chequamegon High School softball team clinched at least a share of the Marawood North Conference title with a 12-6 come-from-behind victory at Phillips on Friday, May 10.
Phillips erased a 2-1 deficit with a five-run third inning before Chequamegon countered with 10 unanswered runs, scoring four times in the fifth and three times each in the sixth and seventh innings.
Miranda Dane was 3-for-5 with a double and drove in five runs. Josi Orr was 4-for-5 with a double and triple, scoring three times and driving in a pair. Hannah Borne was 2-for-2 with a double, four runs scored and two RBI. Kennedi Kielpikowski was 2-for-4 and scored twice and Hailey Minnema and Brooklyn Hanson doubled. Eva Pasewald notched the win in the circle, fanning five.
Dane led a 17-hit attack with a 4-for-4 night in a 14-5 MNC victory at Prentice on Tuesday, May 7. She scored two runs and drove in a pair.
Orr was 3-for-4 with three RBI. Hanson was 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI, Minnema was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI and Autumn Kundinger doubled.
Pasewald fanned nine, picking up the win.
Dane was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in and 8-3 non-conference win over visiting Ladysmith on Monday, May 6. Orr was 2-for-3 with a double, Hanson was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI and Borne doubled and drove in a pair of runs.
Pasewald scattered eight hits and fanned five.
The Screaming Eagles lost a pair of games in the Gilman-Thorp SlamFest on Saturday, May 11, falling 11-0 to Glenwood City and 15-1 to Medford.
Fourth-seeded Chequamegon will open WIAA Div. 3 tournament play on Tuesday, May 21, hosting fifth-seeded Shell Lake at the Park Falls Athletic Complex. Tuesday's winner will advance to the regional title game on Thursday, May 23.
