Jessica Roush and Kalin Baratka won three events each to lead the Phillips High School girls' track and field team to a second-place finish in a quadrangular meet in Phillips on Monday, May 6.
Kees Hoogland won three events for the Logger boys.
Chequamegon swept the team titles, winning the girls' meet with 100 points, followed by: Phillips, 82; Medford, 41; and Prentice, 34. The Screaming Eagles scored 109.5 points in the boys' meet, followed by: Prentice, 63.5; Medford, 53; and Phillips, 40.
Roush won the 100- (12.9) and 200-meter (27.97) dashes, placed second in shot put (26-6) and teamed with Jenna Simurdiak, Annikka Johnson and Lindsey Meives to win the 1,600-meter relay (4:52.98).
Baratka won the 400-meter dash (1:05.77) and 3,200-meter run (13:23.04) and joined Johnson, Simurdiak and Meives on the winning 3,200-meter relay team (10:58.35).
Johnson (1:06.1) and Simurdiak (1:10.49) ran second and fourth in the 400. Simiduriak (6-6) and Emma Tingo (6-0) finished second and third in pole vault. Tingo was second (20.73) and Jade Weber was fourth (22.49) in the 100-meter hurdles. Jayna Carlson, Stacy Backstrom, Weber and Tingo teamed for second place in the 400-meter relay (59.97)
Meives finished third in the 800-meter run (2:50.25) and third in high jump (4-2). Jayda Janssen was third (30.46) and Backstrom placed fifth (33.65) in the 200. Janssen placed fourth in triple jump (25-6). Backstrom (14.99) and Carlson (15.11) placed fourth and fifth in the 100. Mackenzie Peterson (20-11) and Ashlee Podmolik (20-8) finished fourth and fifth in shot put and Peterson placed fifth in discus (64-7).
For the Logger boys, Kees Hoogland won the 800-meter run (2:21.4) and shot put (34-10) and teamed with Trey Tingo, Dakota Haberman and Tony Kaster to win the 1,600-meter relay (4:00.16)
Haberman won the 200-meter dash (24.95) with Tingo placing third (25.48). Kaster placed second in the 400-meter dash (1:00.39).
Mathias Hoogland was third in the 3,200-meter run (12:21.62). Tingo, Haberman, Trapper Tate and Cade Zierer were third in the 800-meter relay (1:41.96) and Logan Bjork, Zierer, Tate and Kees Hoogland finished second in the 3,200-meter relay (9:32.12).
The Loggers will compete in the Div. 3 Flambeau Regional at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, May 20. The top four finishers in each event at the regional will advance to the Cameron Sectional on Thursday, May 23.
