A statewide report released this fall on "The Burden of Binge Drinking in Wisconsin" places the estimated annual economic cost of binge drinking in Price County at $8.6 million, with the category of lost productivity representing the major share of that total at $5.7 million.

Criminal justice-related expenses make up $1.3 million of remaining cost estimates, rounded out by approximately $0.9 million in healthcare costs and $0.8 million in other unnamed expenses. All told, binge drinking is estimated to cost each Price County resident $620 per year, also packing an estimated $3.6 million in annual expenses when it comes to the impact on government resources.
