In a 7-6 vote on June 16, the Price County Board of Supervisors elected to postpone the passage of what has become a hotly debated and widely misunderstood ordinance related to the authority of the county’s health officer.

The proposed ordinance summarized the statutory authority and duties of the county health officer, which include the duty to investigate communicable diseases locally and the authority to take measures necessary to prevent, suppress, or control those diseases.
