The Price County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to increase the tax for dog licenses from $5 for neutered or spayed animals and $10 for intact to $15 and $20, respectively. According to county administrator Nick Trimner, the license fee had not been increased for many years and was recently reviewed with the changes to animal control. Trimner said that most surrounding counties charge in the neighborhood of $30.
Of the increased tax for intact dogs, the municipal treasurer will get 25 cents, the state will receive 40 cents, and the county will receive $19.35. For neutered and spayed dogs, the municipal treasurer will receive 25 cents, the state will receive 15 cents, and the county will receive $14.60.
