I was a resident of Butternut and Park Falls for almost 80 years before I moved to Franklin, Wisconsin to be closer to family, but that area will always be home.

The picture you had in the paper of 50 years ago of Sister Marie Therese at At. Anthony’s brought back so many memories. I worked at St. Anthony’s for many years. Sister was my oldest son, Tom Lucas’ first grade teacher and when my second son (Fr. Jim Lucas) was born, she crocheted for me a beautiful sweater, cap, and booties for his baptism. I still have it (Fr. Jim will be 50 years old this June). She was a real gem!

Also, congratulations to Jesse Baroka for his accomplishments. He also went to school at St. Anthony’s. It was hard for the little ones to start school. The mothers were crying, the children were crying and wanted to go home. I worked in the office, so tried to help the best I could. When it was lunchtime, I would sit with Jesse and visit and have our lunch. All the students there were part of my family. I wish them well.

Really enjoy the paper, even though there are not too many names I recognize anymore.
