With all the media-driven negative comments you hear these days about our younger generation, I would like to share a positive thing that I witnessed while assisting my nephew Adam with a car problem. Adam and I were refueling his empty project Camaro alongside Highway 13 a couple of weeks ago. Luckily, the Chequamegon Screaming Eagles cross-country team were on the sidewalk jogging by. Along with the nice car comments etc, that I overheard, a couple of the team members yelled back to ask if we needed a push. Absolutely! In an instant, it looked like the whole team turned around and pushed Adam's car to Balls Petroleum. It was a sight to behold and I was way too slow with my "smart" phone camera to catch it.
In the little time It took for me to get the gas can stowed and start my vehicle, those wonderful athletes had my nephew's car in the bay at Balls station already. They flew down 13 and up the ramp better than any Sprint! Cup race team I have ever seen.
I was able to stop a few that helped and thanked them as best I could. (That was not easy to do as they immediately started running again). That great 'TEAM' effort is a direct reflection on coach Mary Patterson, coach Sammy Bay and the Park Falls athletic program. Mom and Dad know who those thoughtful young adults were too. Good Job!
