Sandra Lee, age 74, of Peoria, Arizona, died unexpectedly after a sudden heart attack. She was born in Milwaukee to Leo “Shorty” and Gladys (Morrill). Her early life and schooling was in Phillips, where she graduated with the class of 1962. In 1968, she married Donald Straub and later divorced. She spent her lifetime as an interior decorator and sales person, as well as owning several different businesses. She enjoyed Nascar, Indy car racing, watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and the old Milwaukee Braves.
She lived in Wisconsin, California, Nevada, Illinois, and Arizona most of her adult life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo “Shorty” and Gladys Heitkemper, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
She is survived by siblings: Gloria (Tom) Cullins of Texas, Richard “Dick” (Joanne) Heitkmeper of Wisconsin, Kathryn (Keith) Turtenwald of Wisconsin, Mona Ciampa of California, Jeffrey (Sheri) Heitkemper of Louisiana, and Elizabeth (Donny) Yarborough of Texas; by many nieces, nephews, cousins, longtime friends, and last but certainly not least, her faithful dog Sassy.
Those that knew her well will certainly miss her abundance of energy, spirit and laughter.
At her request, a celebration of life will be held graveside at 10 a.m. on July 27, 2019, at Lakeside Cemetery in Phillips.
