Roger A. Wartgow

May 18, 1944 - May 31, 2019

Roger A. Wartgow, 75, of Otsego, passed away Friday, May 31, 2019, at his home.

Roger was born the son of William and Ella Wartgow on May 18, 1944, in Park Falls. He was married to Jean Jendrysko on Aug. 14, 1965, in Butternut. Roger was employed in construction in Milwaukee. He later worked for the Rio Co-op Lumber Yard. Afterwards, he drove truck for Danco Prairie FS until his retirement.

Roger enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, hunting, and fishing. He truly loved music and entertaining people. Roger was a member of a polka band. After his retirement, he would play his accordion for residents of local assisted living and nursing facilities. He was a member of the International Polka Hall of Fame.

Roger is survived by his wife, Jean; his sons: Michael (Leslie) and Steven; his grandson: Benjamin and Elias; his brother, Donald (Arlene); two sisters: Carol (Myles) Bruch and Nancy (Clem) Dipple; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: William and Wayne; and his son, Thomas.

A memorial gathering was held on Tuesday, June 11, at the Koepsell-Zeidler Funeral Home in Columbus. Inurnment will take place at St. Cecelia Cemetery in Butternut at a later date.
