Raymond W. McMullen

Raymond “Ray” W. McMullen, age 86, of Hartford, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Ray was born on June 25, 1933 in Phillips to William Jr. and Leona (nee Gura) McMullen. He was united in marriage to Mary Alice Kudrna at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Madison.

Ray served on the Wauwatosa Fire Department for over 33 years and retired as a captain. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, the NRA, ROTC and Schoenstatt Federation. Ray was a man of faith and loved to spend time with family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, cooking, traveling, canning, gardening and farming.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary of 66 years; Michael (Deborah) McMullen of Alhambra, Illinois, Daniel (Julie) McMullen of Skwenta, Alaska, Mary McMullen of Newton, New Jersey, John (Diana) McMullen of Oconomowoc, Greg (Carrie) McMullen of Eagle River, Alaska, Timothy (Kathy) McMullen of Ixonia, Margaret “Margo” (Bret) Pritzlaff of Jackson, William “Billy” (Lorene) McMullen of Hartford, Deborah “Debbie” (Paul) Wagner of Neosho, and Lori (Timothy) Ball of Hartford; 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Carol (Arthur) Schiff, Doris (Ron) Afalla; brother, Larry McMullen; and grandson, Adam McMullen.

Mass of Christian Burial for Ray will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, at St. Peter Catholic Church (200 E. Washington Street Slinger, WI 53086) with Very Rev. Fr. Richard Stoffel officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 4-5:45 p.m.

Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery on Saturday Oct. 12 in Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Schoenstatt Center (W284N698 Cherry Ln. Waukesha, WI 53188) are appreciated.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Horizon Hospice for their loving care of Ray.
