Raymond Joseph Hilgart, age 87, of Park Falls, died on Friday, Aug. 30, 2019 at The Waterford Assisted Living in Park Falls. He was born on Nov. 10, 1931 in Park Falls, the son of Edward and Mary (Kundinger) Hilgart. After graduating high school, Raymond entered the United States Army and served in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Raymond made a career out of the military and while serving he earned a business degree and a degree in electrical engineering. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in 1978. On Dec. 4, 1953 he married Hisako Ishiguro in Japan. She preceded him in death in 2011. Raymond then returned to Park Falls and on June 8, 2013, he married Barbara Gutmann-Anetsberger who preceded him in death in July of this year.
Raymond is survived by his son, Kenneth Hilgart of New York City, New York; two stepchildren: Janet (James) Schumacher of Stacy, Minnesota, and Frank (Jennifer) Anetsberger of Park Falls; eight step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Marilyn (Robert) Weber of Park Falls, and Ardith Ochalek of Milwaukee; two brothers: Fred (Shelley) Hilgart of Winter, and Thomas (Klara) Hilgart of Wind Lake; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Hisako, his second wife Barbara, and his brother Eugene Hilgart.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Park Falls. Fr. Shaji Pazhukkathara will officiate.
Burial will follow at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls with military honors under the auspices of the Park Falls American Legion Post.
A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.
