Aug. 25, 1951 - Aug. 1, 2019
Mary Anne (Marlenga) Gosmire passed away Aug. 1, 2019, at her home in Madisonville, Louisiana, surrounded by her family. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on Aug. 25, 1951, to Martin and Catherine Marlenga. They moved to the farm in Catawba in 1952. Mary Anne attended Martin’s Mill school for one year, then attended St. Gregory’s School in Phillips for three years, followed by Catawba and Kennan schools and then Phillips High School, graduating in 1969. She attended NTC in Wausau, and then moved to the Chicago area. On Sept. 19, 1981, she married Mark Gosmire. They had two daughters, Kristen and Amy. They lived in Forest Park until their retirement four years ago when they moved south to get away from the cold winters and to spend time with their grandson. Mary was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother. She loved nothing more than cuddles from her grandson and reading his favorite book. Mary loved to volunteer at her church, helping with Friday fish fries, making prayer blankets, and teaching religion classes. She was an avid reader and loved a good book, as well as her little flower garden. She was a lifelong Chicago Cub fan.
Mary is survived by her husband Mark; daughters: Kristen and Amy, and her grandson Henry; her mother, Catherine Marlenga of Catawba; sisters: Patricia (Terry) Haubert of Prentice, Barbara Marlenga of Marshfield, and Carol (Kyle) Austad of Hawkins; brothers: Martin and John (Willie), both of Catawba; nephew Dayne of Green Bay; along with many family and friends in the Chicago area.
Funeral services were held Aug. 6 at Bagnell and Son Funeral Home in Covington, Louisiana.
