July 21, 1926 - April 15, 2019

August (Augie) Herbert Luedke peacefully passed away at Desert Cove Nursing Center in Chandler, Arizona, on April 15, 2019 at the age of 92. He was born in Town of Hill to Fred and Nancy (Vane Hudson). Preceding in death are his parents and two siblings, older brother Rudolph (Pete) and younger sister Eleanore.

Augie lived in the Ogema area for 55 years. He fought in WWII and during this time he lost his parents and received an honorable discharge. After two tours in Japan he returned and worked for Soo Line Railroad and later Owens Illinois. Augie was active in the First Lutheran Church of Ogema and the American Legion. He relocated to Reno in 1985 and moved to Chandler in 1988. He kept abreast of local and global events, was an avid reader, and enjoyed watching sports. Augie had a positive outlook, great sense of humor, and deep appreciation of family and friends.

He is survived by one son, Jerry (Christine Graettinger) of Wimauma, Florida; daughter, Wendy (Michael Cason) of Chandler, Arizona; and granddaughter Kaitlyn Cason of Seattle, Washington.

Augie enrolled in the Science Care program and Paradise Mortuary of Scottsdale was in charge of the arrangements. Private memorials will be held at a future date in the Ring of Honor at the Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Chandler and by his family at Hillside Cemetery in Ogema.
