A free introduction to the sport of pickleball will be offered by a group of local players from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the Phillips Elementary School gym.
Pickleball, one of the nation’s fastest-growing sports, is an amalgamation of tennis, racquetball, and ping-pong, played with a small solid racket, a large wiffle ball, and a court smaller than a traditional tennis court. The game is accessible to all ages, and no previous experience is necessary to play.
In order to participate in the introductory game, participants are asked to enter at the main doors of the elementary school and sign in at the office. They will be met by a member of the group and escorted to the gym. Rackets and balls will be provided, as well as basic rule instruction and skills.
