Nature has a way of leveling the playing field when it comes to snow. We quickly zip around in our cars going back and forth to work and school or running errands. Some people call it the ‘rat race’. Then comes the snow, as it has many times these past few weeks, and we must slow down. If we don’t, the consequences can lead to car accidents, broken bones from falling on ice, bad backs or heart attacks from shoveling too much snow too quickly, just so we can — guess what — get back to the ‘rat race’. It seems that we shouldn’t be in a hurry to get back to the rat race, but to take more quality time to focus on and enjoy the beauty of our winter landscape and all that it has to offer. And winter is our time to send our readers Season’s Greetings from the Nature Education Center and to thank you for all the nice comments we have received about our Focus on Nature column. Your kind words warm the winter months.
