Our local Friends of the Garden (FOG) group was organized by a group of 33 people after attending a garden tour at our Nature Education Center (NEC) in Fifield on, July 22, 2003. After a potluck supper outside among the NEC gardens, the group held a meeting inside led by then UW Agricultural Extension Agent Mark Kopecky who was instrumental in helping the group set up a simple administrative structure to coordinate activities for people interested in gardening and sharing with others their thoughts, ideas and experiences. Officers volunteered, and the group has been going strong ever since.
FOG is a very informal group that meets mostly during the gardening season for workshops, garden tours, plant exchanges, etc. Gardeners of any interest or experience are welcome to participate in events hosted by FOG.
