An investigation is ongoing at a farm located on Fryk Lane in the Town of Ogema following an anonymous tip to law enforcement June 3.
Officers responding to the farm found numerous dead animals that had not been properly buried, according to a press release.
Staff from various Price County departments responded to the scene to assess the living animals and properly dispose of the dead animal carcasses.
No information on the type or number of deceased animals was given.
A veterinarian also evaluated the health of animals on the farm, two of which were euthanized.
One dog required medical care and was removed from the farm by the county’s animal control officer.
On June 6, a veterinarian with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection inspected the animals and found no evidence of any serious or unusual contagious livestock diseases.
The county is reportedly working with the farm owners to help provide proper care for the remaining animals.
There is an ongoing investigation into potential charges of violating state law and county ordinances pertaining to proper animal care, abandonment of animals, and disposal of dead animals.
The Price County Sheriff’s Department did not immediately respond to a request for further details.
