The armed and dangerous subject has been arrested and is no longer a threat to the area. Randolph L. Vestal, 33 years of age, from Eau Claire was taken into custody at approximately 2:24 p.m. today. Sheriff’s deputies made contact with Vestal when he exited a wooded area and ultimately were able to take him into custody. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Gilman Police and Wisconsin DNR assisted in the search for Vestal. At the time of this release , no report of injuries to either Vestal or law enforcement have been made.
The incident remains under investigation.
An active search is ongoing for an armed individual last seen near Shiner Drive and State Highway 73 in the Town Of Roosevelt, Taylor County.
The Taylor County Sheriff's Office has identified the man as 33-year-old Randolph Vestal of Eau Claire.
At 10:43 a.m. today (Sept. 3) Vestal was found in or near a residence located at N1307 State Highway 73 near Lublin in Taylor County. He pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the land owner before leaving. The suspect left on foot and appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to the report to the Sheriff's Office.
Vestal is actively eluding law enforcement at this time in an attempt to avoid capture. He is to be considered armed and dangerous. If sighted, people are warned not to approach Vestal, and are asked to call the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office at 715-748-2200 ext. 5 or 911.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is currently assisting in the search and air assets are being called in to help.
