The busy month of June at the ABC Raceway continues Saturday with a very special program.

In cooperation with Northern Clearing Inc. of Ashland, the Raceway is offering fans the chance to enjoy its full five-division race program free of charge, in exchange for donations to two very important local charitable organizations. In addition, Little Caesar's Pizza of Ashland will present the track's 'Kids Meet the Drivers' Night activities prior to the race program.

Fans coming into the main grandstands to watch the program are asked to bring nonperishable food items for donation to The Brick Ministries food pantry in Ashland, or to make a cash contribution to be included toward the Raceway's and Northern Clearing's collection for the Ashland-Bayfield County chapter of the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" fund-raising program.

"The Raceway is proud to be involved with the Vernon family and Northern Clearing in their efforts to raise funds and collect for these very worthwhile causes," said track president Eric Erickson recently. "Raising awareness of the needs of these two organizations, while helping us to offer our fans the chance to watch our racing program free of charge, is a win-win for everyone."

Prior to the racing action, the drivers will bring their racing machines out onto the front straightaway of the three-eighths-mile red-clay oval, and fans young and old alike will be welcomed onto the track to meet their heroes, collect autographs, and maybe even receive a few treats and other souvenirs.

"With Little Caesar's helping us coordinate one of our most popular nights of the season with this fundraising night, it creates a fantastic opportunity for folks who rarely or maybe never come out to the races a chance to see what our sport is like," said Erickson.

"We consider racers and race fans as one big family. And when you're part of a great family like ours, you do things like have fun and help others who need our help. That's what a night like this is all about."

WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Mods and Pure Stocks, and ABC Six-Cylinders will all be in action for a full night of qualifying heats and main events.

The "meet-and-greet" session will start promptly at 6:30, meaning there will be no "hot lap" practice session on Saturday. The first race of the night is scheduled for 7 p.m.
