Zombie Days

Jack-o’-lanterns carved for Washburn Hardware & Sport’s Pumpkin Carving Contest line the storefront from a previous Zombie Days celebration.

Watch the signposts. Washburn is careening toward Zombie Days, little knowing that in 2020 a detour lies ahead. The city is about to enter “The Twilight Zone.”

Washburn’s annual two-day celebration named in honor of town character Tony Woiak, who shot a couple of zombie movies in the city starring locals that put the community on the undead map, is shifting like a werewolf in response to concerns over spreading COVID-19.

Two days of Halloween fun include drive-in movies, other new activities
