Horton the elephant (Addisen Ploeger) sits in his tree babysitting an egg in “Suessical the Musical,” on stage at the Rinehart Theatre in Ashland through Nov. 4.

Theodor Seuss Geisel, known to millions as Dr. Suess, created bright-colored worlds filled with talking cats, thoughtful elephants, incredulous children, and even a mean, green Grinch. Young and old can take a trip into the amazing imagination of this children's author in the Chequamegon Theater Association's production of “Suessical the Musical,” on stage through Nov. 4.

Directed by Deb Ellefson, this mash-up of 18 Dr. Seuss books is a tuneful play featuring favorite Suess characters — from The Cat in the Hat to Mayzie La Bird. The work, conceived by Eric Idle of Monty Python fame, features a book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty and music by Stephen Flaherty.
