New Mural 1

Stagecoach Bar and Grill owner Nancy Dawson Sztyndor, right, holds a vintage Cabby's Tap jacket that dates back to the time when the tavern, now known as the Stagecoach bar and Grill, was owned by Babe Johnson. Susan Prentice Martinsen, left, painted Ashland’s 21st mural on the side of the bar.

For generations of Ashlanders, going to Cabby's was a rite of passage.

Back in the days when Wisconsin allowed 18-year-olds to drink beer, Cabby’s, at 315 Main St. E., was a beer-only tavern and popular watering hole for the younger set. As times changed, the tavern did too, but over the years it has remained a popular community gathering spot under several owners, and endures as the Stagecoach Bar and Grill under current owner Nancy Dawson Sztyndor.
