Rejecting a DNR staff recommendation of six bull elk tags, the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board on May 27 voted 5-2 to allocate 10 tags for the fall 2020 hunt in the northern herd — the same as the 2018 and 2019 hunting seasons.

Of the 10 tags, five will be awarded to state hunters, and the Ojibwe tribes will receive the remaining five in accordance with treaty rights.
