Most of us love the great outdoors and cherish the natural beautiful spaces we have here. Did you know that the city of Ashland has a total of 22 parks, representing over 300 acres of public land? We tend to take these green spaces in our community for granted.
At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, the Council considered adoption of an updated comprehensive outdoor recreation plan (2019-2024). Although some believe we spend too much time planning, the city is required to update its plan every five years to be eligible for grants necessary for maintenance and upgrades to our park areas. The updated plan was developed after receiving public input from a survey of the community and several open houses held in the spring. The plan is intended to be used as a guide for accomplishing future development of parks and recreation activities within the city.
