A March For Justice in Ashland last summer mirrored others across the nation calling for a review of how policing is delivered in the U.S. Ashland is creating a task force that will meet with residents and gather data on local arrests and other police issues and make recommendations for new policies the city should adopt.

The city of Ashland is creating a policing task force that will gather community input as it seeks to revamp the way police services are delivered in the city.

Mayor Deb Lewis said the initial goal of the task force that will review police operations is to ask residents what they want — and what problems they perceive the department to have.
