Tax hike

Ashland County Administrator Clark Schroeder said things like road maintenance and services for the elderly will have to be cut if the County Board and voters don’t approve a $1 million property tax increase that would raise taxes on an average home by $87 a year.

A referendum vote asking Ashland County voters to approve nearly $1 million in new property taxes will be on the ballot in April.

By a 13-4 vote, Ashland County Board members Tuesday approved placing the $938,636 revenue request before voters. If residents approve, the annual tax on an average home valued at $113,000 would increase by $87.
