Shelter Shop

Mary Sternberg, a volunteer at The Shelter Shop in Ashland, shows a reporter where a burglar cut a small hole in insulation to break into the business Sunday. The store sells donated merchandise to raise money for the Chequamegon Humane Association.

A diminutive burglar broke into a downtown Ashland store that raises money for the local humane society and made off with cash and assorted merchandise from the business on Sunday.

Volunteers at The Shelter Shop still were trying to determine Monday everything that was stolen. They’re certain that a few dollars in small change from the cash drawer, a cell phone and a small sculpture of a horse were taken.
