Zack Bigboy, 30, of Apple Valley, Minn., passed away, Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, in Minneapolis. He was born Feb. 28, 1987 in Grand Rapids, Minn., the son of Mary Pero and Patrick Bigboy.
Zack graduated from Bloomington Kennedy High School in 2004. He wrestled all four years for the high school and was a three-time MN State Champion. He also won the MN-WI tournament all four years. He continued wrestling three more years for the University of California State – Bakersfield. Zack moved back to Minneapolis area where he worked as a floor installer for his business, Bigboy Enterprise.
Zack was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and camping throughout the year. He also liked going to concerts and watching the Packers. He made many life-long friendships with family and friends and he had a special connection with his grandmother, Pearl. He will be remembered for work ethic and dedication to the goals he set for himself.
He is survived by his mother Mary Pero; father Patrick (Roxanne) Bigboy Sr.; sister Beth (Justin Posthumus) Bigboy; brother Patrick Bigboy Jr.; nieces and nephews, Kaiden, Selena, Connor, Katelyn, Lennen and Caylee; paternal grandmother Pearl Bigboy; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather Arnold Bigboy Sr.; maternal grandparents Mary and John Pero; aunt Louanne McCutcheon; and cousins Aaron Scharp, Courtney Greene and Jason Pero.
A traditional service will be held Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at the Bad River Community Center with Waawaakeyaash Keller Paap officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Odanah Cemetery.
Visitation will held at the Community Center Sunday evening and continue until the hour of service on Monday.
