Shelley Ann Johanik, age 44, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, unexpectedly at her home in Mason. She was born Feb. 15, 1972, in Marshfield, the daughter of Theresa M. Johanik.
Shelley owned and operated the Karma Salon of Ashland and the Karma Salon II in Washburn. Along with managing her very busy, successful salons and applying her gift of unique hair styling, she tended to her animals, whom she loved very much, her gardens and living her life her way, to the fullest.
Survivors include her mother, Theresa Johanik of Phillips; daughter, Savannah of Mason; uncles, Larry Johanik of South Dakota, Joe (Mary) Johanik of Bayfield and Paul (Janine) Johanik of Washburn; aunt, Julie (Randy) Johanik-Johnson of Iron River; brother, Donald (Glory) Johanik of New Waverly, Texas; godparents, John Moravetz and Mary Ann Petke; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe and Helen Johanik; uncle Mike; and cousin Michael.
A Memorial Mass for Shelley will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 23 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Ashland with Father Paul Pare, O.F.M. and Deacon John Grek as celebrants.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church in Ashland and continue until the hour of service.
Interment will take place in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Moquah.
The Mountain Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ashland and Mellen is assisting the family.
