Ronald G. “Oi” Maki, 65, of Iron River, WI passed away on August 9, 2019 at Court Manor Health Services. He was born February 9, 1954 in Ashland, WI, the son of Eino and Hilja (Granlund) Maki.
He graduated in 1972 from South Shore High School. He worked as a carpenter for many years after graduating high school. He enjoyed gardening, cutting firewood, and spending time with his family, and he loved his dogs.
He is survived by 2 children, Christopher Maki, Iron River, WI, and Renee (Jason Hieb) Maki, Ashland; 12 grandchildren, Shawna, Tyrel, Kendra, Dakota, Desirae, McKayla, Carl III, Dalton, Bryson, Wyatt, Nathaniel, and Arlyssa; 2 great-grandchildren, Wynstyn and Wyllyam; a brother, Leroy “Box” Maki, Florida; 4 stepchildren, Jennifer, Brad, Chad, and Jason; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Rodney; special cousin, Dean Pyykola; and a nephew, Justin Pyykola.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Iron River Community Center with Pastor Paul Simmons officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the community center. Inurnment will be at a later date.
