Joseph G. Kovach Jr., 71, of Ashland passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at his home. He was born September 13, 1947 in Ashland, the son of Joseph and Evelyn (Bayliss) Kovach.
Joe loved his wife, Caroline, and enjoyed raising their sons with her. He later took care of her during her long illness, keeping her at home. Joe was a good dad who sacrificed a lot to provide his sons Darryl & Christopher with everything they wanted. He spent quality time with them and encouraged and taught them to love cars, stock car racing, sports, and the great outdoors. Joe was a good and faithful grandson, volunteering to take care of his grandparents' snow and lawn. He was a good and faithful son, helping his parents as they aged. He was also a good and faithful grandparent, who enjoyed every moment with his granddaughters, Emily, Allison, Lily, and Amber. He was a friend to many and enjoyed the company of several good friends who accompanied him to daily lunches, as well as hunting, running around the Barrens, and throwing a line in the water to fish at every opportunity. He will be sorely missed.
Joe was active at St. Agnes/Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, serving on the Council and was a BINGO caller for many years.
He is survived by his sisters, Suzan Kovach and Deborah (Larry) Woltman; daughter-in-law, Susan (Bill) Erickson; granddaughters, Emily, Allison, and Lily Kovach-Erickson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Caroline; and two sons, Darryl Kovach and Christopher Kovach; along with Christopher's wife, Debby; and their infant daughter, Amber.
Graveside services are set for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2019 at St. Agnes Cemetery in Ashland with Fr. Jerome D'Souza officiating.
