Genevieve A. Powless Minakamikookwe, 82, of Odanah, WI passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland. She was born on December 14, 1936 in Odanah, the daughter of Lawrence and Florence (Gordon) Madosh.
Genevieve was a very hard-working person, and she worked for Miller Brewing in Milwaukee for over 25 years before retiring in 1997. She was currently a greeter at the Bad River Casino, in Odanah. She enjoyed going for rides in her car, playing BINGO, going to the casino, shopping, and she was always looking for a bargain. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Odanah and the Judgement Fund.
She is survived by her five children, Robert (Carolyn) Powless Jr., Red Cliff, Daniel (Penny Charette) Powless, Odanah, Robin (Siaki) Powless, Saxon, Samuel Powless, Odanah, and Peter (Lori) Powless, Odanah; a sister, Charlene Madosh, Milwaukee; 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Earl Madosh; a sister, Joyce Smart; and a granddaughter, Myna Stone.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Odanah with Father Jerome D’Souza officiating. Visitation will be at the Bad River Community Center in Odanah starting after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019, with a 7:00 p.m. service. Interment will be in the Odanah Cemetery.
