David F. Renz Sr., 61, of Ashland passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. He was born January 17, 1958 in Chicago, IL, the son of Connie and Alice (Thornquist) Renz.
David was a 1976 graduate of Ashland High School. He retired from the Bayfield County Highway Department in 2017. He married Beth Bichanich on May 25, 2018.
David was a loving husband, father and grandfather. God, his family and football, especially the Packers, meant everything to him. He loved making everyone he met smile in his own teasing way. David lived to work, and whether a job or helping someone in need, he always gave his all. He will be deeply missed by all.
David is survived by his wife, Beth Renz and stepson, Ben of Ashland; son, David (Maria) Renz Jr. of Drummond and daughter, Tara (Bo Klevgard) Renz of Mellen; seven grandchildren, Alex, Nate, Alyssa, Stephen and Josiah Renz of Drummond and Trinity and Haily Pearson of Mellen; brother, Tom (Maxine) Renz of Barnes and sister, Carllyn (Dan) Dulitz of Washburn; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by father and mother Conrad and Alice Renz; brother Steven Renz; and an infant son, Michael Renz.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2019 at Chequamegon Community Church in Washburn with Pastor David Whitaker officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, 11:00 to 1:00 at the church on Friday. A Reception at the church will follow the service.
Burial will be held at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Sanborn at 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
