Kya Coulter heard a lot from her dad while she was growing up about a fantasy tabletop roleplaying game that was all the rage in the 1980s.

A typical Dungeons & Dragons game involves paper, pencils, snacks and plenty of dice, which determine the outcome of just about every aspect of the game.

Cole Schinstock, dungeon master of the teens game at Ashland’s Vaughn Library, moves character pieces simulating their journey through a cavern.

Some campaigns use figurines and grids to map out play. In others, the game exists entirely in players' imaginations.
