Lawrence (Larry) Charette Sr.

Lawrence (Larry) Charette Sr., Red Cliff WI, began his journey to the Spirit World unexpectedly on 11/08/2019 at 4:20 at his residence with his grandson Cory Jo and his dog, Lady Bird by his side. Larry fought a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was born 5/22/1956 in Ashland WI, the son of Marvin B. Charette Sr. and Dorothy (Peterson) Duffy. Larry graduated from the Bayfield High School on 1974, served in the US Army 1974-1976 and was a member of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Tribe. Larry took pride in being an excellent CNA, working at various places throughout Minneapolis MN including the VA Center prior to moving back home. He also worked at Northern Lights in Washburn WI where he was honored with being employee of the year. Larry also received his welding license from WITC in Ashland WI. Larry was a kind and caring individual; his home was always open to his many friends, family and stray animals. He enjoyed music, collecting antiques, fast cars, Minnesota Vikings and Twins,spending time with his grandchildren, and celebrating with his friends and family.

He is survived by his children, Mercie (Ryan) Defoe, Michelle (Brian) Charette-Goodwin, Michael Charette, Lawrence Charette Jr., Nicole Charette, all of Red Cliff. 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. His siblings, Kenneth Charette, Carolyn (Robert Powless) Gouge, Penny (Danny Powless) Charette, Marvin Charette Jr., Sean (Julie) Charette, John (Lori) Duffy, David Duffy, and Daniel Duffy. Many nephews and nieces, special cousin; Kelly Peterson, many special friends and his dogs Lady Bird and Little Boy.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Dorothy, Brother Steven Charette, Grandson Austin Basina, Nephew, Adrian Reede and Marvin Charette III, and brother-in-law Willard Gouge' Sr.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the St. Francis Church in Red Cliff WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service, feast to follow at the Red Cliff Elderly Center.

Arrangements are with the Bratley Funeral Home in Washburn.
