Joan Frances (Wittman) Ode was born February 17, 1941 and passed away May 31, 2019 of injuries incurred from an auto accident in Monument, Colorado. Joan was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from Pius XI Catholic High School in 1959.

Joan married Arthur Ode Jr. on January 27, 1968 in Milwaukee. They enjoyed 51 years of married bliss, raising three children and moving across the country many times for Dr. Ode's career. They lived in Armonk, NY, Lincoln, NE, Wauwatosa, WI, Dayton, OH, and retired first in Bayfield, WI and recently in Weatherford, TX.

Joan earned her bachelor's degree in Sociology from State University of New York, Purchase in 1981. She worked as a bookkeeper for Pabst Brewery in Milwaukee, The North Castle Public Library in Armonk, NY, and for the Byram Hills School District in Armonk, NY. She was a licensed realtor in Lincoln, NE. Most of all, she enjoyed making a beautiful home for her family as an accomplished seamstress, quilt artist, and home cook.

Her husband, Arthur Ode, was killed in the same motor vehicle accident and it is of great comfort to the family that they were together as the constant companions they were, with one never having to have grieved the other. Joan is survived by a sister Marlene Wittman Vidal, brothers Harold Wittman and Donald Wittman, daughter Greta Ode, daughter Eva Ode Bridgeforth, son-in-law Douglas Bridgeforth, son Arthur (Dutch) Ode III, daughter-in-law Leslie Ode, and grandchildren Nickolas Bridgeforth, Kathryn Bridgeforth, and Allison Ode. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

Funeral arrangements on Tuesday, June 25 at 2:00 pm at the St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 111 E. Main St., Waukesha, WI 53186.
