Donald Arthur Weddig, 75, of Cambridge, Minnesota, and formerly of Spooner passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at GracePointe Crossing in Cambridge.
Donald was born on July 11, 1943, in West Bend, the son of Arthur and Ella Weddig. Following his graduation from high school he enrolled in the U.S. Marine Corps in July 1962 and was honorably discharged in October 1966.
He met his wife, Frances, while living in California and they were married in June 1972. They moved to Marshfield in 1977 for his career as a computer programmer.
In 1991, they moved with their three daughters to Spooner where he worked as a computer programmer for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources until his retirement in 2003.
Donald enjoyed being a husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed cooking, watching the Green Bay Packers, swimming, playing board games, watching TV, listening to Elvis, playing with his dogs Lucky and Poochie, and spending time with his family.
Donald is survived by his wife of 46 years, Frances; daughters Trixie (Tom) Havenner, Rachel Kytonen, and Sabrina Weddig; grandson Gabe Weddig; brother Ken (Carol) Weddig; sisters Nancy (Gary) Burns and Debbie Gruel; and by many other relatives and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ella Weddig, and brother-in-law Jeff Gruel.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, at GracePointe Crossing, 1601 RiverHills Pkwy. NW, Cambridge, Minnesota. A luncheon will follow the service.
